Heeeeey girl! I'm Julie Ball.

I started my entrepreneurial journey back in 2011, when I left corporate America to be a SAHM. While learning the ropes as a new mom, I started a side hustle, working nights, naps, and weekends building websites. 

I'm a bit of a risk-taker and this entrepreneur life felt like one risk after another. But where there's a will, there's a way! So I stuck with it, making tons of mistakes and pivoting about a hundred times. 

Fast-forward to 2016, when my family moved to the mountains of western NC. I was lonely behind the screen and filled that gap with #happymail by way of subscription boxes. Inspired by the surprise + delight of the boxes I was receiving, Sparkle Hustle Grow was born, my award-winning subscription box + online community for female entrepreneurs.

Through SHG, I've led thousands of women in business, shipped 65k+ boxes and converted $2.5M in sales. In 2022, I sold the business for multiple six figures and now I get to spend my time coaching women like you with incredible box ideas + big dreams!

Hey hey! I'm Renae Gonzalez.

I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart. I was scrambling eggs and inviting neighbors to my restaurant inside my parents kitchen as a preschooler. The sidewalk lemonade and art sales continued all throughout my youth but it wasn’t until 2010 when I became an official entrepreneur, owner of a Children’s Boutique and Party Place.

I owned my brick and mortar shop until 2017 when I began to search for my next adventure, something online with a little more flexibility as both my daughters got older.

I loved subscription boxes and knew I wanted to be a part of the industry. I loved helping people find joy and building community through my shop, so the transition to helping business owners do that online felt natural.

After over five years helping hundreds of subscription box owners start and grow their box I still get the same excitement leading up to launch day. I’m so grateful to get to spend my days helping women grow their box business, and reminding them to have fun while doing it.

Our Story 

One January day in 2017. . . 

As luck would have it, Julie and Renae both found themselves at a business retreat for moms in San Diego. Each arrived excited and ready to learn, but didn't know a single soul in the room. It didn't take long for the two extroverts to find each other and bond over taco food trucks, gushing over the #girlmom life. Within hours, they were sharing the stage, singing boy band karaoke and planning to be lifelong biz besties from opposite coasts.

Shortly after the event, Julie found herself overwhelmed with rapid growth of the business. A good problem, indeed. So, she reached out to the Boss Mom community for help with her first hire. The post explicitly said "do not DM me with your pitch" and guess who DM'd her? You guessed it! Renae. She wanted to help support Sparkle Hustle Grow and timing couldn't be more perfect, as she was closing down her brick + mortar shop to move into her next season.

Renae made the perfect fit, starting with some basic virtual assistance, then growing with the company to Director of Customer Experience and being Julie's right-hand gal in making sure subscribers felt heard, felt loved on, and got a ton of value. Over the years, we've been through a lot of ups and downs together, both personally and professionally. We love to share our stories (good and bad) as we know it can help others in their own journeys.
